Kate Armstrong works primarily with the Tobacco Control Legal Consortium, providing legal technical assistance and litigation support on tobacco issues throughout the United States.

Prior to joining the Tobacco Law Center, Kate worked for the Second Judicial District Guardian ad Litem Program.  Kate has also worked as a judicial law clerk, a Legal Program Manager for the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project, Inc., and an associate attorney at Rider Bennett.

Kate graduated summa cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, where she was an editor of the William Mitchell Law Review, a recipient of the Burton Brief Legal Writing Award, and a volunteer for the Minnesota Justice Foundation.  As a law student, Kate participated in the Civil Advocacy Clinic and clerked for Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services and the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.

Kate’s public interest advocacy background includes serving as a board member for the Minnesota Justice Foundation and a volunteer attorney for Chrysalis’ Pro Bono Safety Project.  She currently serves as a volunteer guardian ad litem, advocating for abused and neglected children in juvenile and family court cases.
